Ads (And News) Are Made Of These

  • in: Funny Pictures Tag(s):

    oh my god girlQUIRKY advertisements and equally weird news stories had long been the staple of many late night talk shows and never fail to give us a barrel of laughs every now and then.

    Whether it's "Late Night With Conan O' Brien" or "The Tonight Show With Jay Leno"-both from NBC-or "The Daily Show With Jon Stewart" from Comedy Central, the news and its accompanying advertisements have become a veritable gold mine of humor even for the jaded few.

    It could either be the product of weeks of research by the show's writers or in the case of "The Tonight Show", brought in by the viewers themselves.

    confused girlsA "Tonight Show" news item stated that some volunteers were tasked to search for vintage American Civil War planes-except of course there were NO planes invented during the Civil War.

    Or how about an advertisement showing an oven with the design of a screaming "Pillsbury Dough Boy" stamped in front of the oven glass door? Or an ad about pantywear that tells the husband when his wife had enough sex?

    Just for teasers, how about a news story that told of a meteorite from Greenland which probably came from outer space (?) Or how about a strip club that shows "fabric-free" entertaintment?

    How's this for an ad-a new fragrance for Hummer drivers "when driving one doesn't make you a big enough A-hole" or a free weight loss clinic conducted by Dr. Pigg?

    gotcha girlBut for those with a nose for news-fake news that is---the Jon Stewart show offers up fare like the health benefits of Al Qaeda men who only work for three weeks.

    The downside to their profession is that they can land into forced retirement-that is permanent forced retirement. And you can't find a late show that doesn't mine that shooting incident involving Vice-President Dick Cheney.

    Whether the news items or advertisements shown in these shows are real or faked, they only prove that there's more to them that meets the eye.

    The trick is to read them and weep---with unbridled laughter that is.
