Corset Piercings-Owww!

  • in: Tag(s):

    Not that guys can't do it but corsetcorset piercings may very well be more fitting for women than for the male of the human species.

    After all the name corset came from an infamous piece of girdle worn by the women in the early 17th to 18th centuries.

    The corset was supposed to prop up women's spines, making them stand straighter and thus look a lot prettier.

    But then as the experts would say the corset and its somewhat distant cousin the corset piercings, are at best used temporarily because they presented a lot of problems for the wearer.

    Anyone who watched Pirates of the Carribean saw how the character played by Keira Knightley fainted and dropped from a castle settled on top of a hill because of the tight corset she wore at the time.

    Since it was wound up so tight on the back the corset usually causes spinal deformations for women though strangely it wasn't replaced by the less restrictive girdle until well into the early 20th century.

    Men also wore corsets of the iron type used to guard against bullets and even knife attacks.

    body ringsFastforward to the 21st century and while clothes are a lot more loose, the corset is making a comeback-albeit this time not as clothing but as body art.

    Corset piercings like those seen here can be quite the attention-grabbers but if not done properly can result in serious skin infection, hence the hesitation of some body piercing artists to do this.

    The metal or jewelry is usually attached along two vertical columns on the back with a string or cloth laced through it to resemble a corset. Due to the increased risk of infection they are only recommended for specific events.

    Still for those with a tough back and an sado-masochistic taste for pain, corset piercings may just be right up their alley.
