Hair transplants can be scary. Especially to your unsuspecting children.
Before you show up with a Chia pet head you might want to prepare your little ones for the great hair transformation you are about to undertake.
Here are a few things you can do to make the transition from hair loss to hair gain a smooth and seamless one.
1) Tell Them What's Going to Happen:
Hair transplantation is a process-like puberty. It usually takes about 3-4 months for the follicles to become visible and can take up to a year for a full head of hair to be seen.
During that time you will go through a variety of changes that may appear somewhat freakish to your image-conscious children.
The best thing to do is to clearly explain all the physical changes that they can expect to see and how long each phase should approximately last. That way they'll know what to expect and won't call the SPCA on you.
2) Tell Them Why You're Getting a Hair Transplant:
Not everybody understands the hair transplant. Some people may think you don't 'need' the hair transplant and will scoff at your attempts to improve yourself.
Children are especially vulnerable to feelings of inadequacy and a belief that you have lost your mind once the procedure is done.
It is important to explain to your children just why it is that you wish to get the hair transplant. (Getting together with your blonde secretary is not a good reason.)
By using clear and honest communication you can thwart any future problems you may have with your hair transplant. And your kids might just put down their Gameboy long enough to notice.
That's it for now. Keep posted for more on this subject.
