I have to be honest. I didn't even know there was such a thing as Female Hair Loss.

My wife and I were retired by the time I noticed that her thinning hair was beginning to show up in clumps on the pillow in the morning.

I started getting concerned. Heck, she started getting concerned.

So she started camouflauging it and avoiding her friends and social situations where somebody might see that she was losing her hair.

It was time we do something. We found out that female hair loss is almost as common as male hair loss.

The statistic that blew me away was that 25% of all women will experience some noticeable hair loss in their lifetime. Where are these women?

male-female-coupleI couldn't remember seeing any woman, including my mom, ever having to deal with female hair loss.

But as the doctor explained to us women lose hair different areas of the scalp than men do, which makes it easier for them to hide it.

We also learned that women are very good candidates for hair transplantation .

My wife was nervous but we did a lot of research.

Hair transplants have come a long way since the transplants of the 60's and 70's and with Follicular Unit Extraction the hair surgeon could transfer very small amounts of follicles to areas that needed them.

Though it took a few treatments, (Rome wasn't built in a day), within a couple of months hair began to grow where we thought nothing would happen.

And today she is happier and healthier than ever before. And that makes me happy as well.. Bob, 56- Hartford, Connecticut
