GQ Magazine has compiled in its November issue a list of the greatest male fashion in films, and topping the list is the tailored gray, ventless, three-button suit worn by Cary Grant in the 1959 Alfred Hitchcock thriller North by Northwest.
Selecting a mixture of styles and genres, the magazine's editors compiled the list as movies had a greater impact on men's fashion than the catwalks or the street. GQ Style Editor Adam Rapoport tells Reuters what has always been the case for male fashion:
"It was interesting to see that men's fashions haven't really changed that much over the years especially when it comes to suits," Rapoport told Reuters on Monday.
"A guy in a great suit looks just a great today as it did 50 years ago."
Apart from North by Northwest, also making the list are films that spanned from 1959 to 2000, which include:
1. Breathless (1959)
