Leave The Makeovers to The Cosmetic Surgeons

Now here's a piece of disturbing news.

According to this report from News-Record.com, doctors across the United States who are non-plastic surgeons are now offering cosmetic surgery services for their patients who have just popped in either to have their eyes checked, their teeth capped or their pregnancies confirmed.

Patients can pop in for a checkup or to have some wrinkles removed or even liposuction.

Doctors' offices across the nation increasingly are becoming one-stop shops for both medical and cosmetic services, offering procedures generally done by plastic-surgery specialists.

Doctors say they offer cosmetic services so they can better meet the needs of their patients.

...and that of their own. Undoubtedly, the primary reason why many of these non-plastic surgeons do more than just extract someone's teeth is to earn some more. Cosmetic surgery, as the report says, bring new patients and more money into these doctors' clinics.

It is understandable that these doctors would want to have a slice of the ever-growing plastic surgery pie. According to the ASPS or the American Society for Plastic Surgery, more than 10 million cosmetic procedures were done last year, and that literally translates to a few billion dollars in fees.

Still, cosmetic surgery should be done by trained cosmetic surgeons, and the operative word here is "trained". These dentists, ophthalmologists and gynecologists may know a thing or two about cosmetically enhancing someone's appearance. But what if the results aren't satisfactory? Are they equipped with the necessary skills to do revision work? This is where the cosmetic surgeons' training becomes an important factor, something which these other doctors don't have.

Better leave cosmetic surgery to the cosmetic surgeons.
