Some celebrities get mad when the media endlessly speculates on whether they've had cosmetic surgery or not-Britney Spears' breasts and Ashlee Simpson's nose are prime examples. Teri Hatcher also had cosmetic surgery-related talk thrown her way, but of a different-and infinitely more insulting-sort. And the gorgeous Desperate Housewives star is livid about it.
In her autobiography Burnt Toast, Hatcher tells of a time when a magazine emailed her that a picture of her face would be printed in an upcoming issue as an example of a woman who needed cosmetic surgery. What made it worse, Hatcher reveals, is that that certain photo of hers is going to be printed alongside suggestions by a team of plastic surgeons on the kind of cosmetic work that should be done on the actress.
How could someone as hot as Teri Hatcher be treated as nothing more than a theoretical science experiment?
Unfortunately for the offending magazine, this desperate housewife is no pushover.
I wrote, 'Wow. First of all I am so sorry for your readers. I cannot believe this is what you want to put out there for women.' "'What kind of message do you think you are sending to women, when you tell them that a celebrity - Teri Hatcher, a woman who has had a second chance, who has a great year, a great job, won awards, made money, and has a beautiful daughter - that even she needs plastic surgery to be 'better?'
That ought to have put the magazine in its place. I don't know if the magazine's editors went through with it, but I think they backed off because if they hadn't, they'd have one desperately angry housewife to deal with.
