With the Oscars handed down to the winners by the time this blog sees the light of day about a dozen or so articles about which actor or film deserved the awards would find its way through the Web on post Academy Awards night.

But for lovers of even cheaper thrills the focus would be on which actress or actor availed of facial plastic surgery or any type of cosmetic operation prior to that walk down the red carpet for the Oscar awards ceremonies.

An open secret among the Hollywood elite, the topic of cosmetic surgery and other physical improvements cropped up when former Best Actress awardee Nicole Kidman asked who availed of lasik or laser eye surgery recently before the Oscars.

As a sport spotting the actors who had a facelift or nose job is made difficult if one didn't have access to file photos of what they looked like before they became Oscar material.

Unless of course if they were famous even before winning that coveted Oscar nomination. And with the slew of independent films dominating the Oscars, the major stars are relegated to doing presenter duties at the annual filmfest.

Without any reference material to look at one may be forced to sit in hours of boring red carpet commentaries from the likes of American Idol's Ryan Seacrest and perennial hack Joan Rivers.

Yes, TV Guide host Joan Rivers who had become the butt of jokes by the entertainment industry for her on-air bloopers and nauseating tales about her own plastic surgery experiences.

This is one confessional on plastic surgery one doesn't want to sit through even for a second. Which gives the audience little recourse but to sift through the Internet for their fix on plastic surgery enhanced Hollywood actors.

Then again one can always watch "Late Night With Conan O' Brien" and see Joan's relatives in the "If They Mated" segment of the show. They're in the "After" portion, not "Before."
