Rhinoplasty or nose job has been around for several years now. Many clients have already enjoyed the results of the procedure, providing them freedom from their bumps, droops, and breathing difficulties. Though many qualified surgeons are adept at giving clients the best results possible, a portion of the populace is still hesitant to undergo the procedure because of fear that the procedure might go wrong or that they simply can't stand subjecting themselves to cuts and incisions.

Next to liposuction, rhinoplasty is the second most –sought after cosmetic surgery procedure last year. According to the annual report of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons, a total of 298,000 nose reshaping procedures were done in 2005.

With its popularity, you would think that nose jobs are just a modern fad that has steadily grown in demand through clever marketing and word of mouth. That rhinoplasty is just a recent invention that numerous individuals want to have a piece of because it is the "in" thing.

I was surprised when I came across this report by Arabnews.com, saying that demand for cosmetic surgery in Saudi Arabia is rising.

According to the report, among the most popular forms of cosmetic surgical procedures in the Kingdom are rhinoplasty and liposuction. The report also says that women make up 70% of the demand.

I've always thought that Saudi Arabia, being one of the few Middle Eastern countries adhering to Islamic laws to the letter, is just as strict about cosmetic surgery as they are with eating pork, imbibing alcohol or showing women's faces in public.

I was browsing through a lot of blogs lately, and I happen to come across Julia Sheere's nasal adventures – a chronology of her nose job experience.

I had such a good laugh about her story, considering that she went through all that trouble all for the purpose of acquiring that seemingly elusive perfect nose. But what she went through wasn't a joke actually. And what she went through might have happened to several people as well. From the looks of it, I think she has chosen the wrong plastic surgeon, thus, she was subjected to a lot of bloody episodes during her post-operation period. Well, it really pays to know the right plastic surgeon to go to, especially on matters related to applying modifications on the areas above the neck.
