With the PlayStation 3 and the Nintendo Wii still a few weeks old in their owners' hands, expect these gamers, especially kids, to immerse themselves within the vastly improved graphics on the PS3 or playing tennis like a pro on the Wii. The problem is, most of these kids spend more time playing video games than they should, and that, according to a new study, poses risks to a child's health, both physical and mental.

    From All Headline News:

A study, by University of Florida child psychologist Eric Storch, found that playing video games can put children more at risk of developing behavioral and health problems.

Storch's study revealed that although video game makers seem to be addressing concerns about how playing affects children that too much gaming still puts children more at-risk for behavioral and health problems.

The risk comes because children play video games alone and that isolates them from other people.

"If you're concerned it is going to be difficult to control how much your child is playing, then one recommendation would be not to tempt them. Don't purchase one of these systems," Storch said in a press release.

Too late. Millions of people all over the world already have. It all now depends on how parents regulate video game playing among their kids. But with new fun video game titles released on a regular basis, one can only wish parents good luck in this regard.
